This battery saves the programming and sales data on your register in case of a power failure. The battery DOES NOT run your cash register in case of power failure. These batteries last many years if you register is normally plugged in. In some cases you will not now the battery has failed until it is to late. Make certain you have a good back up of your cash register to prevent data loss. If you need to replace the battery make sure you have a back up and also be certain to unplug the register from power while you are replacing the battery.
